Shin Sung-rok captivated audiences with his extraordinary comedic performance as the fifth host on Coupang Play's comedy show 'SNL Korea' Season 8, which had previously sparked rumors of a 100 million won appearance fee.

In the episode released on the 25th, Shin showcased his versatility in comedy, appearing in a dandy blue jacket and declaring, “I’m nervous since it’s my first public comedy, but I’m eager for a regular spot,” which set the crew on edge. He proved his declaration was no empty boast with his full-bodied performance.

Shin transformed into a variety of characters, from a boastful 'young forty' entrepreneur to a flamboyant 'gigal man' with expressive gestures and facial expressions, leaving viewers in awe. His transformation into the signature character 'Kkaetokgae' was particularly hilarious, with facial expressions perfectly synced with emojis, quickly becoming a 'legendary meme'.

In the popular segment 'Smile Clinic', Shin played a 'dermatologist' engaging in a fierce psychological battle with Kim Won-hoon. His portrayal of a dual personality, acting differently in front of colleagues and Kim, and his unique manipulation tactics, heightened viewer engagement. Notably, his hair removal scene was deemed one of the most shocking moments in 'SNL Korea' history.

Shin's performance peaked in the basketball segment, where he shed his charismatic image, engaging in a body odor contest with Kim and delivering a relentless parade of daring acts, including butt attacks and underwear exposure. His all-out performance reportedly left even veteran crew members stunned.

Shin expressed, “There’s a strange sense of liberation. It was unfamiliar compared to theater or musical stages, but the audience's reactions made it easier to act naturally,” attributing his newfound acting wings to the live atmosphere of the 'SNL Korea' stage.

Meanwhile, 'SNL Korea' has seen top stars appearing and delivering fearless performances, leading to rumors of a 100 million won appearance fee. SNL crew member Jung Sang-hoon previously clarified on 'Knowing Bros', “There was an article about a 100 million won fee per episode, but that’s not true. We don’t pay that much. The secret is our efforts to recruit hosts even in private settings.”
