Despite frequent criticisms, she revealed that she tried hard to keep herself grounded. Kim Hye-yoon explained her mindset at the time, saying, "If you listen closely, it's true. I thought, 'I am an amateur.' If I just thought, 'I got scolded. I'm discouraged,' I felt like I would become more withdrawn on set and unable to do what I needed to do."

She also confessed that she started auditioning at the age of 17 and had attended over 100 auditions, leading her to doubt herself after repeated rejections. She admitted, "I even thought, 'Maybe I'm just someone who gets rejected.'"

She honestly shared, "I had a complex about my height at the time. I wanted to get roles that didn't seem to fit me, so I often embellished the truth." She continued, "I'm 158 cm, but I wrote 160 cm. Everyone knew, but I still added those 2 cm."
