'A Happy Day for Us' Episode 18: Tensions Rise Between Um Hyun-kyung and Yoon Jong-hoon

'A Happy Day for Us' sees Um Hyun-kyung and Yoon Jong-hoon in a tense standoff.

The 18th episode of KBS 1TV's daily drama 'A Happy Day for Us,' aired on the 22nd, depicted Jo Eun-ae (played by Um Hyun-kyung) facing crises both at home and work. The episode garnered a viewership rating of 10.0% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea.

Eun Soo-jung (played by Moon Hee-kyung) discovered a hidden pendant while searching for Go Kang-soo's (played by Lee Ho-jae) will. Just as she was about to open it, Lee Young-hwa (played by Jung Young-sook) appeared and snatched it away, heightening the tension. Suspicious of the pendant's secret, Eun Soo-jung began to question its significance.

Meanwhile, Jo Sung-joon (played by Sunwoo Jae-duk) resisted Kang Yeon-ja's (played by Kim Hye-ok) demand to explore loans and severance pay for his son Jo Eun-hyung's (played by Choi Sung-won) faculty appointment donation. Although he intended to uphold his son's belief against buying positions with money, the request from his unaware wife added pressure. Cornered, he confided in his daughter Jo Eun-ae, revealing his true feelings, "I pretended to be righteous, but it was the opposite," expressing a poignant sentiment.

On the other hand, Jo Eun-ae recalled her mistake during a company dinner and sought out Go Kyul (played by Yoon Jong-hoon) to apologize, only to be met with a cold response. Their tension escalated with the remark, "Let's verify the memory first," leading to a standoff over work and field assignments.

Simultaneously, Jo Eun-hyung discovered his father Sung-joon's resignation when he visited his former workplace. Shocked, he called his father, who attempted to cover up the situation with lies, leaving Eun-hyung speechless.

The episode's climax reached its peak when Jo Eun-ae called Go Kyul, only for a mysterious old man to answer, ominously stating, "Is he dead?" before hanging up. Jo Eun-ae's frozen expression closed the episode, heightening anticipation for the next broadcast.
