Singer Bae Da-hae Shares Heartwarming Story of Living with Her 100-Year-Old Grandfather-in-Law

Bae Da-hae, singer and wife of Peppertones' Lee Jang-won, recently shared her experience of moving in with her 100-year-old grandfather-in-law.

On October 23, Bae Da-hae updated her fans through her YouTube channel.

In the video, she revealed, “I have a new roommate. My roommate is 100 years old,” and explained that she and her husband have moved in with her grandfather-in-law. The elderly man had been living alone in the house for a long time and expressed his desire to stay in his familiar surroundings.

Bae Da-hae candidly shared the reasons behind this living arrangement. She said, “Our family had many discussions,” adding, “My husband, being the eldest grandson, and with my in-laws living in the countryside, we decided to move in.”

The grandfather's wish to remain in his lifelong home was a decisive factor. Bae Da-hae shared, “Grandfather has lived in this house for a long time and wanted to stay in a familiar place,” highlighting the family's thoughtful decision.

She also discussed their current living arrangements. The house has been adjusted to share some spaces, with the grandfather using a larger room while the couple occupies a smaller one. She described it as living “almost like a guesthouse.”

Regarding daily life, she mentioned, “There is a system in place for meals and hospital visits, and we have help at home.” They respect each other's lifestyles while living together.

Bae Da-hae also spoke about her grandfather-in-law's health, noting, “He is very healthy,” and can use a smartphone and call a taxi by himself. However, he uses a cane or wheelchair for mobility due to his knees.

She mentioned changes in their shared time, saying, “On Saturdays, the three of us spend time together, and it’s surprisingly fun.” She added, “He buys us snacks and calls us affectionately.”

Bae Da-hae expressed her honest feelings about the new living situation, admitting, “It’s a bit awkward to live with someone else after living as a couple,” and added, “I think I need to open my heart more.”

Meanwhile, Bae Da-hae married Peppertones member Lee Jang-won in 2021.
