Inside the Newlywed Life of 'I Am Solo' Stars Hyunsook and Youngsik: Balancing Dream Interiors with Realistic Budgets

Hyunsook and Youngsik, who tied the knot through the 26th season of 'I Am Solo,' have shared the behind-the-scenes story of their dream interiors and furniture purchases, even while living in a rented home.

On Hyunsook's YouTube channel 'Honey Day,' a video titled 'I Am Solo Newlywed Home Tour: Balancing Dream Interiors with Rental Realities, De'Longhi Home Café, Home Bar, and Must-Have Items for Small Homes!' was uploaded.

The video showcases the virtual home tour of Hyunsook and Youngsik's first home together after marriage. Hyunsook revealed, "This newlywed home is a rental property as a preparatory step towards owning our own home," and explained, "We have minimized unnecessary belongings to be ready to move at any time, yet decorated the space with a 'beauty of emptiness' concept to maintain beauty even for a short stay."

Youngsik highlighted the living room as the area where Hyunsook invested the most effort, and they began introducing their furniture. They pointed out a sofa, costing around 1.5 million won, as the most expensive item among their newlywed furniture, sharing the challenges they faced during its purchase.

Hyunsook confessed that she explored everything from high-end brands at department stores to affordable options to find the ideal sofa but was caught in a dilemma of spending hundreds of thousands on temporary furniture or settling for a low-cost option with less satisfaction.

During this process, Hyunsook expressed her frustration, saying, "It's disheartening to not be able to buy a sofa freely at the age of forty," but Youngsik always respected her choices, gently soothing the atmosphere. Ultimately, they chose a sofa perfect for lounging or sitting, creating a cozy living room environment.

Hyunsook's firm taste and practicality were also evident in their choice of appliances. She was cautious about the TV being too dominant in the house but, after discussions with Youngsik, they purchased a 55-inch TV at the lowest price through a second-hand deal. Initially, she felt it was larger than expected, but once installed, she was pleased with the comfortable viewing experience.

Meanwhile, Hyunsook and Youngsik, who didn't make a final choice during the 'I Am Solo' filming, reconnected fatefully after the show and developed into a real-life couple, culminating in their marriage this past January. Born in 1984, Youngsik is a talented game planner with a degree in physics from Korea University, while Hyunsook, born in 1987, is a U.S. attorney known for her intelligence and beauty. The couple, active in different professional fields, continues to inspire fans by wisely overcoming everyday disagreements.
