Choi Jin-hyuk's Dog Diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma

Actor Choi Jin-hyuk's beloved dog, Mongshil, was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma three months ago.

On the SBS variety show 'My Ugly Duckling' aired on the 1st, Choi Jin-hyuk was seen visiting an animal hospital with his 13-year-old dog, Mongshil.

Choi Jin-hyuk shared, 'There are times when Mongshil's condition is not good. When she lies still as if dead, I can't sleep because I'm worried. The hospital also told me to be prepared,' he said. 'Sometimes it feels like she's not breathing at all. I get so scared that I shake her awake. This happens almost every day.'

Three months ago, a weak heart sound led to an echocardiogram, which revealed a large tumor in her heart. 'Her weight dropped to 2kg, and her color turned from pink to gray,' he explained. Choi Jin-hyuk's mother also added, 'I really thought she was going to die back then.'

The diagnosis was hemangiosarcoma. The tumor had metastasized, spreading to her heart, spleen, and skin. The expected survival period was 1 to 2 weeks, with a high risk of sudden death due to the tumor pressing on her heart.

The doctor explained, 'The medication is currently suppressing her activity, but if the cancer becomes resistant, the tumor could grow again, potentially causing bleeding.' Mongshil has been enduring for three months, taking anti-cancer supplements twice a day and oral chemotherapy twice a week.

Choi Jin-hyuk confessed, 'This is my first dog, and it's still hard to accept. Even though they told me to prepare myself, I don't know how to do that as a family member.'

Upon being advised to prepare for her funeral, Choi Jin-hyuk visited a pet funeral home. There, he found a photo of a dog that looked very much like Mongshil, bringing him to tears.
