Lim Ji-yeon tears up at Best Supporting Actress, IU fails to win Best New Artist Award

Lim Ji-yeon mentioned Lee Do-hyun, whom she is in a public relationship with, in her acceptance speech for the Supporting Actress Award. IU attempted to win the Film Rookie Award, but did not receive the award.

On the afternoon of the 28th, the '2023 59th Baeksang Arts Awards' awards ceremony was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do. Broadcaster Shin Dong-yup and actors Park Bo-gum and Suzy hosted the event, and it was broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2, JTBC4, and TikTok.

The Rookie Award went to Moon Sang-min and Noh Yoon-seo in the TV category, and Park Jin-young and Kim Si-eun in the film category. Moon Sang-min of 'Shroop' expressed his gratitude, saying, "I don't think I would be here if it weren't for senior Kim Hye-soo, who always warmly hugged us and became a pillar of our set," and Noh Yoon-seo of 'One-shot Scandal' also said, "I respect and like seniors Jeon Do-yeon and Jung Kyung-ho so much. He added, “Everyone at ‘One Shot Scandal’, including my senior, was reassuring and I am grateful.”

'A Christmas Carol' Jin-young Park, who is set to enlist in the army on May 8, said, "I am so grateful to all the directors, staff, seniors, and fellow actors who were on set. I will ask the BH agency family to take good care of me even after I return from the military. I think this is just the beginning. “I will continue acting for a long time,” he pledged.

'Daum Sohee' Kim Si-eun, who beat 'Broker' IU and held the trophy, said, "I really thought I wouldn't be nervous, but I'm so nervous. I think it's an honor just to be in this place with so many shining people."

The supporting actor awards in the TV category went to Jo Woo-jin of ‘Suriname’ and Lim Ji-yeon of ‘The Glory’. Jo Woo-jin said, "This character was a work and mission that was like a challenge to me. I will think of it as a new challenge, a more bold challenge."

Lim Ji-yeon said, "I am grateful to senior Hye-kyo, my beloved perpetrator family, and (Lee) Do-hyun, who accepted all my shortcomings." She added, "'The Glory' Park Yeon-jin was a challenge for me and I was afraid that I might fail. I am still afraid of acting. I'm always frustrated and always blame myself, but those thoughts sometimes lead to things like, 'Am I unhappy?', 'Are there a difference between what I want to do and what I'm good at?' “There are times when I think about it,” she said, while showing tears, “Today, I worked so hard to live as Yeonjin, and I want to tell myself that you are doing well. ‘You’re amazing, Yeonjin!’” she exclaimed. The supporting actor awards in the film category went to Byun Yo-han and Park Se-wan.

The Gucci Impact Award, which debuted this year, is an award given to works that contain messages of diversity, fairness, and inclusiveness among the works selected for the Baeksang Arts Awards, and the movie 'Daum Sohee' was honored with the award.
