The released stills depict Kwon Se-jung in various situations, from advancing with a determined expression to cautiously observing the infected, and facing them in tense encounters. Kwon Se-jung, unable to tolerate injustice, finds herself trapped in the Dunguri Building after attending a conference at the suggestion of her ex-husband Han Kyu-sung (played by Go Soo), following her dismissal from a professorship. As a biotechnologist, she strives to understand the behavior and evolution patterns of the mysterious infected individuals to lead the survivors to escape.
Regarding her choice of 'The Hive' as her comeback film after 'Assassination', Jun Ji-hyun expressed, "I've always been a big fan of director Yeon Sang-ho, and the straightforward script of 'The Hive' was incredibly appealing." Director Yeon Sang-ho praised Jun Ji-hyun, stating, "Her instantaneous immersion was impressive, and she truly is a veteran actress," heightening anticipation for the film.
