Jung Woo's Directorial Debut 'Jjangu' Surpasses 200,000 Viewers Despite Mixed Reviews
Actor Jung Woo's first feature film as both director and lead actor, 'Jjangu' (directed by Jung Woo and Oh Seong-ho), has surpassed 200,000 viewers on its eighth day of release, despite receiving mixed reviews.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets, 'Jjangu' exceeded 200,000 cumulative viewers by 9:30 AM on the 29th. This milestone was achieved eight days after its release on the 22nd, surpassing the final score of Jung Woo's previous film 'Wind' (2009) and doubling its box office performance over the same period. Jung Woo, who portrayed the candid youth of a Busan man 17 years ago, returns to the screen as both director and lead actor, capturing the essence of a Busan man named Jjangu. The film reflects the depth of sincerity Jung Woo has developed over 17 years in the industry.

Despite a limited number of screenings, 'Jjangu' has consistently ranked among the top Korean films in seat occupancy rates. This suggests that the film is drawing audiences not just due to its release but because of its intrinsic appeal.

'Jjangu' is a spirited and heartwarming drama about an aspiring actor named Jjangu (played by Jung Woo), who perseveres through setbacks and failures with the singular dream of becoming an actor. The film is currently showing in theaters nationwide.
