Rising Star Choi Gyuri Cast in New Film 'History of Confession'

Actress Choi Gyuri has proven herself as a rising star.

On the 12th, according to TenAsia's coverage, Choi Gyuri has been cast in the movie 'History of Confession' (directed by Namgung Sun).

'History of Confession' is produced by BomBaram Films, known for 'Kim Ji-young, Born 1982', and directed by Namgung Sun, a graduate of the Korean Academy of Film Arts. Director Namgung Sun has garnered attention at various prestigious film festivals with short films such as 'End of the World' (2007), 'Worst Friends' (2009), 'Men' (2014), 'Conversations' (2019), and 'Nice to See Your Face' (2022). His feature films include 'Future of Ten Months' (2010) and 'Time to Power Up' (2024).

Currently, actor Gong Myung has been named as the male lead. Choi Gyuri is set to work alongside Gong Myung, who has risen to prominence on both television and the big screen.

In addition, Choi Gyuri is about to start filming the new drama 'Knockoff'. The black comedy genre 'Knockoff' is set against the backdrop of the 1997 financial crisis (IMF crisis) to the early 2000s and revolves around various stories involving counterfeit luxury goods. The drama is directed by Park Hyun-seok, known for tvN's 'Stranger' Season 2, and is co-produced by SLL and Arc Media.

Choi Gyuri will play Kim Sung-hee, the younger sister of Kim Sung-joon (played by Kim Soo-hyun), who leads the 'counterfeit market' in the drama.

Earlier this year, Choi Gyuri gained recognition in tvN's 'Marry My Husband', where she played Yoo Hee-yeon, a marketing team member at U&K Food and the half-sister of Yoo Ji-hyuk (played by Na In-woo). 'Marry My Husband' made history by becoming the first Korean drama to top the global daily TV show rankings on Amazon Prime Video, one of the world's largest OTT platforms.
