Actors Song Kang-ho and Song Joong-ki, and Blackpink Jennie were invited to the Cannes Film Festival.

‘Man of Cannes’ Song Kang-ho was invited to the non-competitive section of the 76th Cannes International Film Festival held this year with the film ‘Cobweb’ (directed by Kim Ji-woon).

This is the third invitation for director Kim Ji-woon and the eighth for Song Kang-ho. Director Kim was invited to the non-competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival for his films ‘A Bittersweet Life’ in 2005 and ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Weird’ in 2008.

Song Kang-ho is known for his work in films such as ‘Monster’ (director Bong Joon-ho), ‘Secret Sunshine’ (director Lee Chang-dong), ‘Nome, Nome, Nome’ (director Kim Ji-woon), ‘The Bat’ (director Park Chan-wook), ‘Parasite’ (director Bong Joon-ho), and ‘Emergency Declaration’ (director Han Jae-rim). ) and 'Broker' (directed by Hirokazu Koreeda), which won the Best Actor award last year, he will be invited to Cannes again this year.

'Cobweb' is a black comedy about the 1970s, and depicts the miserable and funny situations that arise when a director (played by Song Kang-ho), who is obsessed with the idea that the ending of a film that has already been filmed will be better if he re-films it, is forced to film under adverse conditions.

Song Joong-ki was invited to the Cannes Film Festival for the first time in his life. 'Hwaran' (directed by Kim Chang-hoon), which became Song Joong-ki's first film to enter Cannes, was named in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes International Film Festival. This section introduces unique works depicting various regions and cultures.

'Hwaran' is a low-budget noir film in which Song Joong-ki appears as a no-carrantee. The story unfolds as a boy Yeon-gyu (played by Hong Sa-bin), who wants to escape from the hellish reality, meets the organization's mid-level boss Chi-geon (played by Song Joong-ki) and joins him in a dangerous world.

Song Joong-ki is currently staying in Hungary to film the Netflix movie 'Ro Ki-wan' (directed by Kim Hee-jin). His wife, British actress Katie Lewis, is pregnant, but she wanted to be with Song Joong-ki, so she left the country with him. Accordingly, attention is focused on whether Song Joong-ki will accompany Katy when he walks on the Cannes red carpet.

Jenny also received an invitation to the Cannes Film Festival in her first acting challenge. Jenny's first attempt at acting, 'The Idol', was invited to the non-competitive category. 'The Idol' was listed in the category along with the previously mentioned 'Cobweb'.

'The Idol' is set in the music industry of Los Angeles (LA) and tells the world of the music industry and the love story of a popular female pop singer. Singer The Weeknd participated in co-production, and Sam Levinson of the popular HBO series 'Euphoria' served as director.

'The Idol', starring Johnny Depp's daughter and actress Lily-Rose Depp, boasts a brilliant lineup including The Weeknd, Troye Sivan, and Dan Levy. However, the details of the matter are being kept under strict secrecy, and fans' curiosity is at its peak.

In particular, since this is Jenny's first attempt at acting, interest from domestic fans is high.

Meanwhile, the Cannes Film Festival will be held from the 16th to the 27th of next month. The opening film is ‘Jeanne du Barry’ (directed by Maiwen) starring Johnny Depp.
