Yoon Sang-ho's 'The Hive' Set for Global Release After Cannes Premiere
'The Hive' is a gripping tale of isolated survivors battling against evolving infected beings within a quarantined building, following a mysterious outbreak. The film's world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival has already sparked global interest, as evidenced by its pre-sale in 124 countries.
Doris Pfardrescher, CEO of Well Go, the North American distributor for 'The Hive', stated, "We chose 'The Hive' because of Yoon Sang-ho's proven ability to create high-quality, mainstream films, as demonstrated in his previous works like 'Train to Busan'." Taiwan's Movie Cloud remarked, "'The Hive' offers a fresh take on the zombie genre, portraying the infected not just as chaotic hordes but as evolving entities with intelligence, which is truly fascinating." Germany's Plaion Pictures praised, "Director Yoon Sang-ho has redefined a sub-genre with his unique and groundbreaking zombie trilogy. With 'The Hive', he has reached a pinnacle, creating another masterpiece that will set new standards for years to come. It's a pure delight from start to its spectacular ending."
'The Hive' will begin its global release following its domestic debut on May 21. It will premiere in Taiwan and Malaysia on May 22, followed by France, Singapore, and the Philippines on May 27, Australia and New Zealand on June 11, and North America on August 28. A release in Japan is also planned for 2027.
'The Hive' will have its world premiere at the 79th Cannes Film Festival and is set to open in South Korea on May 21.
