Ma Dong-seok, “Humble Lee Jun-hyuk, gained 19 kg”
On the morning of the 9th, a production briefing session for the movie 'Crime City 3' (directed by Lee Sang-yong) was held at Megabox COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Actors Ma Dong-seok, Lee Jun-hyuk, Aoki Munetaka, and director Lee Sang-yong attended the event.
'Crime City 3' follows monster detective Ma Seok-do (played by Ma Dong-seok), who moves to Gwangsu University in Seoul and catches Joo Seong-cheol (played by Lee Jun-hyuk), the mastermind behind a new drug crime case, and Ricky (played by Munetaka Aoki), another villain involved in the drug case. It depicts an exhilarating crime-fighting operation carried out for the sake of the audience.
In the play, Ma Dong-seok plays the role of Detective Ma Seok-do. Detective Ma Seok-do was transferred to the Seoul Metropolitan Investigation Unit seven years after arresting the Vietnamese kidnapper and murderer. He learns that the murder case he was investigating with his new team members is linked to a new drug case linked to a Japanese organization.
In the play, Lee Jun-hyuk plays Joo Seong-cheol, a mysterious third-generation Korean villain. There is no known information about Joo Seong-cheol other than that he is the mastermind behind the new drug case. He is a person who moves one step ahead of the Seoul Metropolitan Investigation Unit and causes confusion in the investigation.
On this day, Lee Jun-hyuk made people laugh by saying, “Senior Ma Dong-seok asked me, ‘Do you want to gain some weight?’ so I went on a trip to Ganghwa Island and ate delicious food.”
Previously, Lee Joon-hyuk garnered attention by revealing that he had gained 19kg, aka shank-up, for the role of Joo Seong-cheol. Regarding this, Ma Dong-seok said, "I gained a little weight, and when I told him I had gained about 20kg, he was surprised and asked, 'Yes?'. He said that I think I need to gain a lot of weight by exercising."
He continued, "Actor Lee Jun-hyuk is a good friend that everyone knows in the film industry. Not long ago, in an interview, actor Lee Jun-hyuk humbly said that he had gained 20 kg and that he had gained weight. He said that he had really gained weight, but that is not true. He actually gained a lot of muscle. One day. "I ate a lot and exercised a lot. I also practiced a lot for action. It says bulk up, but let me tell you, bulk up is correct," he emphasized.
Lee Jun-hyuk said, "I started to worry. It felt different. Before, when I played a role, I lived a life that felt like I was being farmed, or something that felt like I was conforming to standards, but this time, I lived differently, as if I was being thrown into the jungle. There should be no strangeness when fighting Maseok-do. “So I had to bulk up a lot, and I practiced boxing a lot. I tried to prepare a lot internally.”
