Director Heo Jin-ho's new film, 'An Ordinary Family', was officially invited to the Special Presentation section of the 48th Toronto International Film Festival.

On the 24th (local time), the executive committee of the 48th Toronto International Film Festival officially announced that 'Ordinary Family' was invited to the special presentation section.

The movie 'Ordinary Family' is a work that depicts the story of two brothers and sisters with different beliefs who accidentally encounter a terrible secret. The special presentation section is one of the representative sections of the Toronto International Film Festival, which carefully selects and invites works by masters who have both artistic and commercial qualities. Korean films such as 'Asura', 'Parasite', 'Decision to Break Up', and 'Broker' were invited and drew attention.

Film festival programmer Giovanna Fulvi said, “Director Heo Jin-ho’s strong directing and the cast’s impeccable acting skills add weight and elegance to the story of a ‘normal’ family’s life collapsing. The reason for the invitation was revealed.

Ahead of the official screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, it has been pre-sold to 57 overseas countries, including France and Vietnam, proving the high interest around the world. As the film will be showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival Film Market, the number of additional countries to sell is expected to increase.

Finecut, an overseas sales company, said, “The meeting between director Heo Jin-ho, who created numerous masterpieces such as ‘Christmas in August,’ ‘Princess Deokhye,’ and ‘Astronomy: Asking the Sky,’ and a cast of top-notch actors, captured the attention of film officials.” . He expressed his expectations, saying, “As it boasts a high-quality production with a compelling directing, an acting ensemble of actors, and a realistic yet tense story, high interest from overseas buyers is expected starting from the Toronto International Film Festival.”

The 48th Toronto International Film Festival will be held from September 7th to 17th, and is the largest film festival in North America, considered one of the world's four major film festivals along with the Cannes, Berlin and Venice International Film Festivals.

'Ordinary Family' will be released for the first time worldwide through the Toronto International Film Festival.
