Lee Soo-geun Highlights Contradictions in Husband's Reluctance to Divorce on 'Ask Anything'

Lee Soo-geun pointed out the contradictions of a husband who expressed dissatisfaction while not wanting to divorce his wife.

On the October 20th episode of KBS Joy's 'Ask Anything', a 48-year-old man appeared seeking advice amidst repeated marital conflicts and another looming divorce threat.

The man shared, “We divorced and reconciled, but my wife says she will divorce me again when I turn 50.” He expressed his concern about how to maintain the family without divorcing. With three children, he wishes to keep the family together until they become adults, but his wife desires a divorce, leaving him frustrated.

According to the man, the couple met at a ski resort in 2009 and started dating. They married after conceiving their first child while cohabiting. However, frequent conflicts arose early in their marriage due to financial difficulties, leading him to initially request a divorce, which they mutually agreed upon. Later, considering the children, he sought reconciliation and persuaded his wife to rebuild their family.

The issue persisted even after reconciling. The man mentioned his wife's lack of contribution to household chores, saying, “I get exhausted handling everything alone.” Disagreements over daily habits like dishwashing and tidying up were frequent. Additionally, he felt hurt by his wife's negative remarks about him, despite providing for the family.

Seo Jang-hoon advised, “If you don't want a divorce, you have to accept and endure it,” but also questioned the value of a relationship where they only hurt each other. He suggested, “If you still have feelings for your wife, you should try to accommodate her.”

During the show, the hosts pointed out contradictions in the man's attitude. Lee Soo-geun remarked, “You say you don't want a divorce, but it seems like you're more inclined towards it,” suggesting that he might be postponing the decision for the children's sake.

Seo Jang-hoon emphasized the importance of resolving grievances through conversation and adapting to each other, while Lee Soo-geun concluded the session by advising, “If you want a happy family, you need to make an effort to change yourself.”
