Actress Hwang Shin-hye recently shared an emotional story about her brother, who became a 'mouth and foot painter' after a life-altering accident left him paralyzed. The touching moment occurred during the October 8th episode of TV Chosun's variety show 'Baekban Journey with Heo Young-man' where Hwang joined Heo Young-man on a culinary tour in Anyang.
During the episode, Hwang revealed details about her brother's journey, stating, "When my brother was 29, he was in a car accident that injured his neck, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. He now paints using his mouth."
When Heo Young-man asked if it was difficult for her to talk about, Hwang responded, "No, he is an amazing and truly admirable brother. I now speak of him with pride rather than pain," and proudly showcased her brother's artwork. Heo, impressed by the paintings, remarked, "It makes me wonder what I have been drawing all this time."
Hwang's brother is now married and lives with his wife. Hwang shared, "He met his wife after the accident and got married. I learn a lot and reflect on myself when I see my sister-in-law. Thanks to her, my brother continues to paint. She is like an angel sent to our family. It's rare to meet someone like her in life. I often ask, 'Where are your wings?'"
When asked to send a video message to her sister-in-law, Hwang declined, saying, "I can't. I might cry," as she teared up.
In other news, Hwang Shin-hye was first married in 1987 to the son of a fashion company CEO, but the marriage ended in divorce after nine months. She remarried in 1998 to a businessman three years her junior, with whom she had a daughter, Lee Jin-yi, but they divorced in 2005.
