The 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) enters its second day, with numerous stars set to engage with audiences.
At 11 AM, the cast of the Disney+ series 'Turbid Waters' will hold a stage greeting. Director Choo Chang-min, along with actors Rowoon, Shin Ye-eun, Park Seo-ham, Park Ji-hwan, and Choi Gwi-hwa, will be in attendance. 'Turbid Waters' is Disney+'s first original historical drama series, set in the Joseon era, focusing on the bustling trade hub of Gyeonggang. The series, featuring rising stars, has been officially invited to the 'On Screen' section of the festival.
Following this, open talks for 'Project Y', 'Boss', and 'No Choice' will take place. At 11:30 AM, the 'Project Y' open talk will feature director Lee Hwan and actors Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo. 'Project Y' is a crime drama about two friends, Mi-seon and Do-kyung, who attempt to escape their dire circumstances by stealing hidden money and gold bars. The film promises a lively and funky crime story.
Set for release this Chuseok, 'Boss' is a comedic action film about a fierce competition among gang members vying for the position of the next boss. The open talk at 12:30 PM will feature director Ra Hee-chan and actors Jo Woo-jin, Park Ji-hwan, Lee Kyu-hyung, and Hwang Woo-seul-hye.
Director Park Chan-wook and actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, and Yum Hye-ran will engage with audiences at 1:30 PM, following the previous day's opening film event. Park's new film, 'No Choice', which opened the festival, tells the story of an office worker, Man-soo, who prepares for his own battle after being suddenly laid off.
At 3 PM, the 'People and Meat' open talk will take place. Invited to the 'Korean Cinema Today - Panorama' section, 'People and Meat' explores the friendship of three friends nearing the end of their lives. Actors Park Geun-hyung, Jang Yong, Ye Soo-jung, and director Yang Jong-hyun will attend.
International film stars will also be present. At 2:30 PM, director Koji Fukada and actress Kyoko Saito will greet audiences for 'Love Trial'. The film reveals the dark side of the cultural industry through idol group member Mai.
The day also features special sessions at the Actors House, where two actors will engage with audiences. The Actors House program allows prominent actors to discuss their craft and works in depth. Kim Yoo-jung's session will run from 2 PM for about an hour, while Son Ye-jin's session will start at 5:30 PM at the Sohyang Theatre Shinhan Card Hall at Dongseo University. Born in 1999 and debuting in 2003, Kim Yoo-jung has grown from a child actor to a seasoned performer. Born in 1982 and debuting in 1999, Son Ye-jin has established a unique acting style across various genres and scales, earning recognition for both her visuals and acting skills.
The 34th Buil Film Awards will also take place on this day. Established in 1958 as Korea's first film awards, the Buil Film Awards were discontinued after the 16th edition in 1973 and revived in 2008, now in its 18th year. Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee will co-host the 34th edition. The nominees for Best Film include 'What Does Nature Say to You', 'Seagulls of the Morning Sea', 'Eldest Grandson', 'War', and 'Harbin'.
