Singer Hwanhee Breaks Down in Tears During Mother's Memorial Photo Shoot
On the October 2nd episode of KBS2's variety show 'Salimnam,' special guest TWS's Dohoon appeared, sharing the story of Park Seo-jin's siblings trying to reconcile their parents, and Hwanhee's emotional moment while creating memories with his mother.
The episode featured a VCR of Hwanhee attempting to live with his mother again. Hwanhee was at his mother's house, and upon her return, she seemed uncomfortable rather than welcoming. Despite her reaction, Hwanhee showered her with various Mother's Day gifts, expressing his dedication by saying, "Today, I'm treating you to everything. I'll cook and do the laundry."
With no prior cooking experience, Hwanhee attempted to make kimchi fried rice for the first time. As he began, he humorously called out for his mother, asking, "Where's the kimchi?" and "Where's the green onion?" He caught attention by preparing all ingredients solely with scissors, earning the nickname 'Scissorhands.' He even added canned ham in chunks to the pan, continuing to cut with scissors, shocking everyone.
While making the kimchi fried rice, Hwanhee also started washing blankets, raising his mother's anxiety. As he stomped on the blankets, the fried rice burned, prompting his mother to leave, saying, "You eat it all." Determined to make up for his cooking failure, Hwanhee finished the laundry, but ended up flooding the house while carrying the wet blankets to the balcony, leaving his mother exasperated.
Hwanhee suggested a trip with his mother, who was watching a travel program, but she declined. Undeterred, Hwanhee took her to a photo studio, keeping the destination a secret. Upon realizing it was for a passport photo, his mother initially refused but eventually agreed after Hwanhee's persuasion. She took her first passport photo at 74, with Hwanhee trying to make her smile with playful antics.
After the couple's photo, Hwanhee stepped out briefly, and his mother cautiously asked the photographer if she could take a memorial photo. She explained, "My mother passed away recently, and seeing her memorial photo replaced with an ID photo was painful. I want to prepare so my sons aren't caught off guard."
Smiling for her sons' future, she took the photo, and Hwanhee returned, shocked to see his mother taking a memorial photo, breaking down in tears. He struggled to speak, asking, "Why suddenly?" while his mother comforted him, saying, "It's a path everyone takes, and it's just a photo. Don't be too upset."
Hwanhee's mother shared, "It's the first time I've seen Hwanhee cry. I feel sorry for making him cry." Hwanhee responded, "I'm just starting to build memories with my mother, but she's preparing for goodbye. I don't want to regret it in front of her photo in the future."
