Ahn Hyo-seop's Drama 'Today We Achieved' Hits Record Low Ratings Despite Romantic Plot Twists
The fourth episode of SBS's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Today We Achieved,' aired on the 30th, saw Matthew Lee (played by Ahn Hyo-seop) discovering new facets of Dam Yejin and slowly opening his heart to her. However, the episode recorded a viewership rating of 2.7%, marking an all-time low. The drama, which started with a 3.3% rating for its first episode, has been on a downward trend with 3.3% for the second episode and 2.8% for the third.
Matthew Lee found Dam Yejin wandering the streets, unable to wake up due to the side effects of sleeping pill overuse. Following her, he was left confused by her sleep-talking, unsure if her words were genuine or not. Even after returning home, Dam Yejin's earnest voice lingered in his mind.
A turning point came when Matthew Lee's perspective on Dam Yejin changed completely. At a makgeolli factory that usually sourced corn from Deokpung Village, they were informed that without a price cut, the deal would fall through, threatening to waste all the hard-grown corn. To prevent a drop in product quality, Dam Yejin brainstormed with Matthew Lee and came up with the idea of live commerce.
With the help of Matthew Lee and the villagers, Dam Yejin launched a live commerce event, quickly selling out the corn and proving her prowess as a top show host. Matthew Lee watched with satisfaction as Dam Yejin preserved the value of the villagers' hard-grown corn and shared in their joy.
After handling the major event, Matthew Lee expressed subtle concern for Dam Yejin, who suddenly felt dizzy, asking, “Why are you so eager to overwork yourself?” A cute note left on a contract by Dam Yejin, stating 'Essence can sell better than corn,' brought a smile to his face, hinting at his changing feelings.
Meanwhile, Dam Yejin received a call from Matthew Lee about the forgotten medicine, prompting her to rush to the meeting spot late at night. However, Matthew Lee didn't show up, and as the store's sign turned off, she was engulfed in darkness, triggering memories of being abandoned by her mother.
At that moment, Matthew Lee appeared, and Dam Yejin hugged him, shedding tears of relief. Gently comforting her, Matthew Lee handed her just one day's worth of medication, saying, “Dam Yejin, let's meet every day,” surprising her with his unexpected proposal. He decided to give her only the right amount of medication to prevent overuse.
As Matthew Lee takes drastic measures for Dam Yejin, the two are set to transition from reluctant acquaintances to daily companions. Whether Matthew Lee's efforts to rescue Dam Yejin from her insomnia will succeed remains to be seen.
