NexG's Yuu Shares His Journey to Debut and Overcoming Challenges in the Music Industry
On the YouTube channel 'Donghaemul and Baekdueunhyuk,' run by Super Junior's Donghae and Eunhyuk, a video titled 'A Japanese Rookie Idol at JYP Who Insists on Speaking Korean! Shocking Revelations That Leave Super Junior Speechless' was uploaded.
In the video, NexG members Yuu and Tomoya showcased their candid and honest conversation skills. Yuu, known for his exceptional cooking skills, prepared a special curry for his seniors, while leader Tomoya praised Yuu's versatility in cooking Korean, Japanese, and Western dishes, especially highlighting his excellent cake-making skills. Donghae and Eunhyuk were impressed by the deep flavors and applauded Yuu's culinary expertise.
The conversation focused on Yuu's impressive history before joining his current agency, JYP Entertainment. When Eunhyuk asked about the audition process, Yuu hesitated briefly before confessing that he had spent about six months as a trainee at Big Hit Music due to his admiration for BTS. Yuu revealed that he almost gave up on his dream of becoming a singer after finishing his trainee period but managed to secure a debut opportunity by passing the JYP audition with a desperate mindset. He also shared that he received an additional audition offer from rival SM Entertainment right after his JYP acceptance but declined it politely to focus on one path, surprising his seniors.
Meanwhile, leader Tomoya caught attention by candidly revealing that his motivation to become a singer was to enjoy financial stability and become a successful business owner. When jokingly asked if his ultimate goal was to become the head of JYP Entertainment, Tomoya nodded seriously, displaying his ambitious side and causing laughter among the audience. NexG is expected to carve out a unique niche in the global music market with their distinctive charm and talent.
