Rising Star Kim Tae-young Joins SBS's New Occult Drama 'Awakening'
'Awakening' is an occult exorcism drama centered around Seongryeong High School, which becomes a playground for evil spirits in the pursuit of academic excellence. The story follows an exorcist priest who risks his soul to save the students. The lead role is played by actor Lee Jun-hyuk.
Kim Tae-young will portray Jang Si-hoon, the quintessential 'perfect son' of Seongryeong High School. Jang Si-hoon is the grandson of the chairman and the second son of the president of Danu Group, which owns large resorts and hotels nationwide. With his aristocratic looks and calm demeanor, he captivates the hearts of the female students at Seongryeong High School and is expected to play a central role in the drama.
Previously, Kim Tae-young gained popularity for his role as Cha Yoo-gyeom, a high school baseball player, in MBC's 'The Glorious Season of You.' Despite being his debut, he was noted for his stable acting skills and charming character, becoming an icon of first love and youthful energy. In 'Awakening,' he is anticipated to showcase a 180-degree transformation as a mysterious and intellectual third-generation chaebol in the occult genre.
The actor group 'New Name,' which includes Kim Joon, Kim Tae-young, Woo Hyun-joon, and Won Kyu-bin, has been making waves with their unique activities even before their debut, such as gracing fashion magazine covers and receiving official invitations to Paris Fashion Week.
