The identity of a basketball player turned murderer is set to be revealed.

On the upcoming episode of KBS2's 'Smoking Gun,' airing on the 17th, the tragic downfall of a man once hailed as a genius will be explored in the segment titled 'The Genius Turned Killer – The Pro Basketball Player Murder Case.'

In the early hours of July 1, 2013, a couple in their 30s reported to the police that their twin sister had left home, claiming she was going on a trip, and had since lost contact. The sister had vanished five days earlier, leaving only a single text message. Her car, registered in her name, was found not far from her home. However, suspicious footage was captured on CCTV showing her vehicle.

The sister's phone had been turned off since the day after she sent the text about her trip. A thorough review of nearby CCTV footage revealed a mysterious man in the driver's seat of her car. As investigators narrowed down the list of suspects from the victim's acquaintances, they finally discovered a crucial smoking gun, gradually unveiling the identity of the perpetrator.

Ann Hyun-mo expressed shock, saying, "I can't understand how someone once called a genius could commit such an act." Lee Ji-hye added, "The premeditated nature of the actions before and after the crime is astonishing," and lamented, "It's unfortunate that even when the crime was fully exposed, the individual continued to blame others without remorse."

The episode will feature former Hwaseong Dongbu Police Station's Violent Crime Investigation Team 2 leader, Detective Yoon In-soo, who will provide a vivid account of the efforts to capture the criminal. Psychiatrist Lee Kwang-min will analyze the perpetrator's actions to determine any underlying psychological issues that may have led to the crime.
