Former Announcer Yoon Young-mi Opens Up About Financial Struggles Amid Sons' Overseas Education
In a recently released preview of MBN's 'Dongchimi', Yoon Young-mi appeared to share her personal story.
During the show, she discussed her long journey dedicated to her children's education. Yoon Young-mi revealed, “I supported my children’s overseas education for 13 years,” and recalled, “The cost of living in New York was beyond imagination.”
She also shared her personal struggles, saying, “I wondered what the point of living was if I couldn’t even see my family because of money,” and added, “I didn’t know why I was living so fiercely.”
In 2023, she appeared on Channel A's 'Oh Eun-young's Golden Counseling Center' and revealed that her husband was the original 'Wakanam' (a man who uses his wife's card), and that she last received living expenses from him 20 years ago.
Yoon Young-mi began her career as an announcer at Chuncheon MBC in 1985 and moved to SBS in 1991. She married in 1995 and has two sons. After leaving her job in 2010, she has been working as a freelancer. Her eldest son graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Economics, and her second son studied Architecture at Pratt Institute.
In the 'Dongchimi' preview, Yoon Young-mi expressed, “I couldn’t even speak about the loneliness and solitude,” and added, “I prayed to God, ‘Please don’t let me wake up tomorrow morning,’” sparking curiosity about her story.
Yoon Young-mi's story will be revealed on the May 2nd broadcast of 'Dongchimi'.
