Comedian Im Ha-ryong's Journey to Becoming a Building Owner in Cheongdam-dong
On the 30th, the 'Sunpung Seon Woo-yong-yeo' channel released a video titled 'First Look at Im Ha-ryong's 10 Billion Won Building in Cheongdam-dong with 40-Year Friend Seon Woo-yong-yeo.'
The video featured a meeting between long-time friends, actress Seon Woo-yong-yeo and Im Ha-ryong, discussing their current lives and the building.
The building, owned by Im Ha-ryong, is located in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, and is currently valued at around 10 billion won. Im explained his approach to managing the building and rent, stating, "I've been charging the same rent as 26 years ago, though I raised it slightly for the first floor."
He also shared why he hasn't significantly increased the rent.
Reflecting on how he acquired the building, Im said, "I bought a small detached house at a good time. As I held onto it, the situation improved." He added, "There was a time when the Cheongdam-dong building was empty, but as time went by, the price increased."
He also revealed details of his investment process. Im stated, "In 1991, I purchased the building for 500 million won, including taxes, and in 2000, I spent 600 million won to sell my Mok-dong apartment and build the building. It was originally a two-story detached house." He continued, "I planned to open a café for my wife and live on the upper floors."
He humorously recalled, "After selling the Mok-dong apartment, its value skyrocketed." Ultimately, the building, which started as a detached house, expanded through renovations to its current five-story structure.
