Former 'Produce 101' Contestant Seongri Triumphs in 'Legend of the Unknown'

Seongri, a contestant from 'Produce 101' Season 2, has claimed the top spot in the renowned competition.

On the episode of MBN's 'Legend of the Unknown' aired on the 11th, the identities of the famous challengers occupying the 4th and 5th floors of the hierarchy were revealed. Among them, Seongri drew the most attention, admitting, "I've participated in five trot competitions but never made it to the finals." After being eliminated from MBN's 'King of the Current Singers 2' last year, he experienced significant distress, emptiness, and a sense of loss, even contemplating the end of his singing career.

Seongri shared, "After my discharge, I worked busily for a few months, but then everything stopped suddenly. I even considered switching to a regular career path, learning skills and obtaining certifications alongside my older brother to prepare for the future." He was on the brink of retiring from music when 'Legend of the Unknown' reached out to him, prompting him to prepare for the stage once more. Seongri completed his 18-month military service and was discharged last May.

Seongri chose Bang Mi's original song 'Don't Hesitate' for his performance. Returning with a deeper charm post-military service, he reinterpreted the song in his unique style, captivating both viewers and judges alike.

Despite the intense and relentless performance with numerous dancers, Seongri's unwavering live singing skills impressed not only the audience but also his peers and seniors. This 'Legend of the Unknown' stage reaffirmed Seongri's musical prowess and stage presence, solidifying his title as a 'hexagonal all-rounder singer.'

Judge Nam Jin remarked, "For our Seongri, the evaluation is 'end of discussion,'" while Ivy expressed her admiration, saying, "Seongri is on another level. The intensity of his dance and singing was perfect." Joo Hyun-mi commented, "I wonder how much he practiced," adding, "He must feel anxious about not achieving something for 15 years, but he has so much potential. I hope he continues to protect this stage."

Seongri's performance scored an overwhelming 126 out of 130 from the top professional panel, securing first place instantly. Overwhelmed by the unexpected result, Seongri shed tears, receiving warm applause and praise from the audience and his peers. He later scored 146 from the audience, achieving a total of 272 points and proudly claiming the final first place.
