Mountaineer Oh Eun-sun and singer-actor Kim Dong-wan are setting off on a journey.

On Sunday, the 1st, at 6:55 AM, KBS 2TV's 'Video Album Mountain' will feature a visit to Wonju, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, home to the clear waters of Seomgang River and Ganhyeon Recreation Area. Chiaksan Mountain, located in the southeastern part of Wonju, is a renowned mountain in the region, famously described as 'Chiak in the east, Seomgang in the west.'

The mountain's name, Chiaksan, originates from a legend where a pheasant, saved from a snake by a traveler, repaid the favor by ringing the bell of Sangwonsa Temple. In winter, Wonju transforms into a snowy wonderland, with Chiaksan's frost-covered peaks offering breathtaking views. The show will guide viewers through the majestic landscapes of Chiaksan, each ridge echoing tales of gratitude.

Two years after a summer trek, Kim Dong-wan and Oh Eun-sun, who has conquered all 14 of the 8,000-meter peaks in the Himalayas, are challenging a winter traverse of Chiaksan. The serene yet formidable winter landscape of Chiaksan fills them with anticipation and excitement. Known for its numerous trails, the Sangwon Valley route is a path well-trodden by seasoned hikers. Despite the overcast weather and frozen ground, the snow-covered path resembles a pristine white canvas. As they head towards Sangwonsa, they embrace the spirit of the winter mountain, shedding leaves and enduring the harsh cold.

Chiaksan retains its deep winter scenery until April, when spring finally arrives. Even if the base is warm, proper winter gear is essential for the ascent. As they climb the frozen valley path, the snow-laden forest deepens, making each step cautious. Oh Eun-sun, who considers mountains central to her life, leads the way, drawing on her extensive experience and memories of past companions.

Previously, Kim Dong-wan sparked controversy with a post on Threads on the 17th of last month, suggesting that the government should manage prostitution to prevent the spread of red-light districts nationwide. He argued that ignoring the increase in single-person households and the issue of prostitution is not a solution. Following the backlash, he clarified on the 20th that his concerns were about the influx of minors, lack of disease control, and exploitation within illegal structures, emphasizing that ignoring reality while preaching morality is irresponsible. The post has since been deleted.

Passing through the Iljumun Gate, they finally reach Sangwonsa. This ancient temple, associated with the legend of the pheasant and snake, is the third of Wonju's eight scenic spots. Situated at 1,100 meters on the southern peak of Chiaksan, it offers a stunning view of the mountain's grandeur. The evening meal at the temple, after a grueling hike, feels especially warm. Despite its high altitude, the fresh and neat side dishes are a pleasant surprise, melting away the day's cold and fatigue.

The next morning, the frost blooms white, and the legendary bell's sound gently resonates through Wonju. With this clear resonance in their hearts, they resume their trek with renewed spirit. Despite the slippery paths and biting cold, they encourage each other with songs, crossing snow-covered ridges and delving deeper into Chiaksan's embrace. The journey through the winter wonderland of Chiaksan National Park with 'Video Album Mountain' begins.

'Video Album Mountain' airs on KBS 2TV at 6:55 AM on the 1st.
