Korean Actress Nam Bo-ra Expresses Desire for Natural Birth Amid Family Concerns

Korean actress Nam Bo-ra has revealed her wish to have a 'natural birth'.

On the upcoming episode of KBS 2TV's 'New Release, Pyeonstorang', airing on the 27th, viewers will get a glimpse into the life of Nam Bo-ra, the eldest daughter of 13 siblings, as she eagerly awaits the birth of her baby. During the episode, Nam Bo-ra surprises everyone by expressing her desire for a natural birth.

In the VCR footage, Nam Bo-ra is seen experiencing intense food cravings, leading her to prepare and devour a large meal. Her insatiable appetite left her mother and siblings, Nam Se-bin and Nam So-ra, in awe.

After dining with her family, Nam Bo-ra cautiously shared her thoughts, stating, "I want to have a natural birth." Her mother immediately responded with a firm "No," while her siblings, unfamiliar with the concept, asked, "Natural delivery?" Upon hearing Nam Bo-ra's explanation, they were left speechless. 'Natural birth' prioritizes the safety of the mother while minimizing medical intervention, avoiding epidurals, episiotomies, enemas, and shaving. While it emphasizes mother-child interaction, it also has its share of criticisms.

Nam Bo-ra's declaration led to an impromptu family meeting. She explained her reasons for wanting a natural birth and sought her family's opinions. However, her mother and siblings strongly opposed the idea, citing concerns about her health.

Additionally, during the 'Pyeonstorang' studio recording, fellow chef Sunye shared her own experiences with natural birth, capturing attention. Sunye revealed, "I had all three of my children at home through natural birth," surprising everyone. She offered Nam Bo-ra practical advice based on her experiences, noting that such births are common in Canada.

Sunye debuted with the group Wonder Girls in February 2007 but left the entertainment industry in 2013 after marrying missionary James Park. She made her return in 2021 through tvN's 'Mom is an Idol'.
