Singer and actress Jisoo has opened up about the criticism surrounding her acting skills.

The press conference for the Netflix drama 'Monthly Boyfriend' was held on the 26th at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dongdaemun, Seoul. The event was attended by actors Seo In-guk and Jisoo, along with director Kim Jung-sik.

'Monthly Boyfriend' tells the story of Mirae (played by Jisoo), a webtoon PD exhausted by real life, who experiences dating by 'subscribing' to a virtual boyfriend.

During the event, Jisoo stated, “Since I'm taking on various roles, I had many discussions with the director to show a better side of myself this time.” She added, “I wondered if there was a way to fit into the character, who is of a similar age to me, like a well-fitting outfit. I hope people say the character suits me well.”

Previously, Jisoo faced criticism for her acting in JTBC's 'Snowdrop' and Coupang Play's 'Newtopia' due to unclear pronunciation and awkward expressions.

Director Kim commented, “Jisoo really put in a lot of effort. She managed to portray various settings and characters well. The drama will show the growth of the character and Jisoo as an actress,” emphasizing multiple times that “effort has surpassed talent.”

The series is set to premiere on Netflix on the 6th of next month.
