K-Drama 'I'll Give You the Universe' Struggles with Ratings as Family Drama Unfolds

The drama 'I'll Give You the Universe', starring actress Roh Jeong-eui, has recorded ratings in the 1% range for four consecutive weeks. Previously, Roh Jeong-eui also struggled with low ratings in the 0-1% range for her previous MBC drama 'Bunny and the Boys'.

In the 7th episode of tvN's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'I'll Give You the Universe', which aired on the 25th, viewers saw Seon Tae-hyeong (played by Bae In-hyuk) grappling with his emotions following the unexpected arrival of his father, Seon Kyu-tae (played by Ryu Seung-soo). The episode recorded a 1.9% viewership rating, continuing its streak of 1% ratings for four weeks.

The episode featured a surprise visit from Seon Tae-hyeong's father, Seon Kyu-tae, who had abandoned him and his brother during their childhood while fleeing from debt collectors. The reunion with a father he barely recognized left Seon Tae-hyeong in turmoil. Despite Seon Kyu-tae's tearful apologies and desire to finally be a proper father, Seon Tae-hyeong coldly dismissed him, demanding to know his intentions and telling him never to return.

Meanwhile, tensions continued between Seon Tae-hyeong and Park Yoon-seong over Woo Hyun-jin. After a burglary incident at Yuseong Villa, Park Yoon-seong installed a security door lock, expressing concern and asking to be contacted if anything happened. Seon Tae-hyeong drew a line, telling him to stay out of his family's affairs. Park Yoon-seong then brought up Seon Kyu-tae, who was first discovered inside Woo-joo's house, questioning Seon Tae-hyeong's ability to protect Woo Hyun-jin from harm.

Seon Kyu-tae persistently tried to reconnect with Seon Tae-hyeong, lingering around Yuseong Villa, helping people, and meeting Woo Hyun-jin and Seon Woo-joo. Woo Hyun-jin, after hearing Seon Kyu-tae's regrets and desire to make amends, suggested to Seon Tae-hyeong that they hear him out. However, Seon Tae-hyeong's heart remained closed, expressing twisted emotions and disappointment towards Woo Hyun-jin, revealing deeper wounds than she anticipated.

In another subplot, the Glomarket project by Planning Team 3 was selected as a key project by BS Food. However, the joy was short-lived as a crisis emerged. A rival company proposed a similar concept, leading to a decision to select the final partner through a pitch. To make matters worse, higher-ups ordered the replacement of Woo Hyun-jin as the presenter with a member from Planning Team 1. Park Yoon-seong strongly opposed this, resulting in an internal competition to select the presenter.

Woo Hyun-jin dedicated herself to preparing for the pitch. Learning of rumors that she leaked information to the rival, Seon Tae-hyeong stepped in to help. He proposed using foreign models from his overseas brand shoot to taste-test the product and gather real market feedback. They quickly sought someone to look after Woo-joo (played by Park Yoo-ho), ultimately turning to Seon Kyu-tae. Seeing Woo-joo with Seon Kyu-tae left Seon Tae-hyeong with mixed feelings.

Woo Hyun-jin's pitch was successful, securing the opportunity for Planning Team 3. She immediately shared the news with Seon Tae-hyeong. On her way home, Park Yoon-seong unexpectedly confessed his feelings to Woo Hyun-jin, saying, "I like you, Woo Hyun-jin," sparking curiosity about future developments.

The episode also highlighted a touching moment between Seon Tae-hyeong and Woo Hyun-jin, promising to weather the storm together. Seon Tae-hyeong said, "I can't be your umbrella, but I can stay by your side until the rain stops," to which Woo Hyun-jin replied, "You can do that for me. I'm on your side too," creating a heartwarming scene.
