Why Shim Hyun-seop Considered a Child-Free Life: Insights from 'Joseon's Love Conquerors'

Shim Hyun-seop, from the TV show 'Joseon's Love Conquerors,' revealed his reasons for considering a child-free lifestyle.

On the October 9th episode of TV Chosun's 'Joseon's Love Conquerors,' a special feature titled 'Love Commandos of the Jujube Tree' aired, showcasing couples Yoon Jung-soo and Won Jin-seo, Bae Ki-sung and Lee Eun-bi, and Shim Hyun-seop and Jung Young-rim as they embarked on a joint trip to the ancient city of Gyeongju.

The couples arrived at Dol Halmae Park, where the village chief shared a story about a grandfather who wished for a son and had one at the age of 60. Actress Hwang Bo-ra humorously mentioned her father-in-law, Kim Yong-gun, who had his third son at 75, bringing laughter to the group.

Jung Young-rim, who is undergoing IVF treatment, shared that she left her job of 16 years and is currently waiting after embryo implantation. She expressed her desire for a child, acknowledging the urgency due to her age.

Shim Hyun-seop expressed his guilt, saying, "Young-rim's stomach is in turmoil due to the injections. I feel sorry because it's largely my fault since natural conception isn't possible." Bae Ki-sung advised, "Your wife accepted everything when she married you. Instead of blaming each other, you should work together."

Shim Hyun-seop confessed, "I initially suggested not having children. If we have a child this year, I'll be 70 when the child is 13. My father passed away when I was in middle school, which left a trauma. But I realized that if I pass away first, having a child might keep my wife from feeling lonely."

Yoon Jung-soo, who grew up without a father and with a disabled mother, shared, "Life goes on. If you have children, do your best to raise them. If not, just be happy together."

Meanwhile, filming was halted when Jung Young-rim reported spotting. She expressed anxiety due to her IVF treatment, stating, "It's been 10 days since the embryo was cultured for four days, and there's spotting." She immediately called a specialist, who reassured her, "As long as it's not heavy bleeding, it's okay."

Jung Young-rim mentioned, "I've heard that implantation bleeding can occur, which means the baby is attaching well, but it's still uncertain." Shim Hyun-seop, who had rushed to buy sanitary pads, asked, "Is implantation bleeding a good sign?" while still worrying about his wife.
