Actor Jin Tae-hyun Bows Out of 'Divorce Consideration Camp' Amid Controversial Patriarchal Husband Story

Actor Jin Tae-hyun has bowed his head in response to the story of a 33-year-old patriarchal husband on 'Divorce Consideration Camp'.

The episode aired on the 30th of JTBC's 'Divorce Consideration Camp' featured the story of the 'Talkative Couple', who have been married for eight years and have three children.

According to the household survey video, the wife is solely responsible for taking the three children to school before work and also handles childcare and housework after returning home. Meanwhile, the husband, who finishes his night shift at 7 AM, goes straight to bed.

The wife expressed her desire for her husband's involvement in childcare, saying, “Even my friends manage to take their kids to school.” However, the husband argued, “Considering the route, you are closer,” and added, “It's a tough job, but in terms of efficiency, it's right for you to do it.” The wife also mentioned that her husband once said, “There's nothing to do since machines handle all the housework.”

The husband explained his values by saying, “Looking at the previous generation, living patriarchally was common,” and admitted, “I hear that I'm male chauvinistic and patriarchal. In our family, the man is the pillar.”

He further explained, “It's ingrained that men do outside work and women do housework.” The husband also drinks more than 20 times a month, enjoys exercising six times a week, and brings friends home at 2 AM.

Regarding prioritizing personal time over childcare, the husband claimed, “Personal time is the driving force to become a family member.”

The husband continued to bring friends home for drinks while his wife and children were asleep in the master bedroom.

Seo Jang-hoon criticized, “He thinks he can do whatever he wants because he's the boss.” Park Ha-sun expressed disapproval, calling it “a Cheonghak-dong special” and “nonsense philosophy.” Seo Jang-hoon further remarked, “He's only 33, but he seems so patriarchal, unlike people today.”

Jin Tae-hyun, who recently announced his departure from the program, stated, “I've seen many scenes, but I really don't understand this one. I can't side with him,” and shook his head. He added, “Can I sit there?” showing signs of giving up.

Meanwhile, Jin Tae-hyun's departure from 'Divorce Consideration Camp' has garnered attention. Seo Jang-hoon and Park Ha-sun will continue without leaving. Actor Lee Dong-gun has been confirmed as Jin Tae-hyun's successor.

The remaining story of the 'Talkative Couple' will air on May 7th at 10:30 PM.
