MBC's 'Oh Eun-young Report' Unveils Shocking Family Abuse in 'Aemo Family'

The latest episode of MBC's 'Oh Eun-young Report - Family Hell' featured the 'Aemo Family,' where the son feels diminished in his mother's presence. Dr. Oh Eun-young analyzed the son as a victim of domestic violence and child abuse.

Aired on October 2 at 9 PM, the 'Family Hell' special of MBC's 'Oh Eun-young Report' highlighted the deep wounds caused by family issues, featuring five families. The episode, co-hosted by special MC Jang Dong-min, introduced the first family, the 'Aemo Family.'

The mother of the 'Aemo Family' caught Dr. Oh's attention with her unilateral personality. She visited her daughter-in-law's home unannounced and took her granddaughter for a walk on a cold day, despite the daughter-in-law's protests. She also expressed resentment over her son and daughter-in-law changing the granddaughter's name, which she had chosen. Dr. Oh noted, "The mother tends to feel offended if others don't accept her intentions. She is very self-centered."

The mother further stirred controversy by expressing disappointment when her daughter-in-law vomited after taking a natural digestive aid she had recommended during morning sickness. Dr. Oh sharply questioned, "Are you a doctor?" and emphasized that one should not casually recommend medication to pregnant women.

The son revealed, "All I remember from my childhood is being scolded and beaten by my mother. If she seems even slightly upset, I freeze as if shocked by an electric current. She is a figure of fear." His shocking confession included being hit with a recorder, leading to scalp stitches, having CCTV installed in his room during high school, and being beaten with a broom until it broke while he was asleep.

The mother also claimed to have been assaulted by her son, drawing attention. She alleged that he pinned her down and hit her, prompting a police response. The son explained, "I was enraged when she criticized me for buying protein supplements, saying, 'What have you ever completed?'" His frustration stemmed from a lack of empathy since childhood. In a message exchange, he lashed out at his mother, questioning her accusations of abuse and declaring, "You're not my mother anymore."

Dr. Oh stated, "The son exhibits typical signs of a domestic violence victim. What he experienced as a child was indeed domestic violence and child abuse, which erodes human dignity. This is why he feels particularly fearful in his mother's presence." She added, "The term 'abuse' triggers his anger towards his mother."

The mother revealed that a pre-marriage car accident damaged her frontal lobe, affecting her anger management. However, Dr. Oh pointed out, "While the accident may have weakened frontal lobe function, if anger only arose during parenting, it was due to things not going her way. This stems from viewing children as possessions. Although there may have been moments of difficulty in controlling emotions, anger likely began when her intentions were not followed."

The 'Aemo Family' mother puzzled viewers by smiling while discussing her son's abuse experiences. Dr. Oh directly asked, "Why are you smiling when your son is crying out about his wounds?" At the end of the episode, the 'Aemo Family' daughter appeared, having observed everything from the waiting room. The preview hinted at further revelations, with the son mentioning his sister as another victim of abuse, heightening curiosity.
