Soccer Star Song Min-kyu's Father Reflects on Humble Beginnings Ahead of Son's Wedding

In a heartfelt moment, the father of former national soccer player Song Min-kyu reflects on their humble beginnings ahead of his son's wedding.

A preview of TV Chosun's variety show 'Joseon's Love Story,' airing on February 2, reveals the wedding of soccer player Song Min-kyu and announcer Kwak Min-sun. In an interview with the production team, Song's father recalls the challenging times during his son's childhood. He shares, "At that time, we couldn't afford a house. We lived wherever we were offered a place, and when told to leave, my wife and I would pack up and move." He recounts moving seven times in Nonsan due to financial difficulties.

Despite these hardships, he says, "We never missed a payment for his soccer fees. It was important for Min-kyu's pride, and we couldn't let that be compromised." He reflects on the relentless work both he and his wife put in to support their son's dream of becoming a soccer player.

He continues, "When Min-kyu said he respected me the most, I felt so sorry to him. I was lacking as a father," he admits, tearing up. The production team was also moved, causing the interview to pause momentarily. The touching story of Song Min-kyu and his father's past, along with the romantic wedding with announcer Kwak Min-sun, will be aired at 10 PM on 'Joseon's Love Story.'
