Actor Koo Sung-hwan Opens Up About Vitiligo Battle on 'I Live Alone'

On the October 10th episode of MBC's variety show 'I Live Alone,' Koo Sung-hwan, who recently made headlines for receiving a building from his father, shared a glimpse into his daily life.
During the episode, Koo visited a hospital for vitiligo treatment. He revealed that he has been using a lot of sunscreen to cover the white patches on his face. "The vitiligo spots are spreading," he said. "On TV, makeup covers it, so people don't notice. But it's increasing around my eyebrows, nose, and mouth. The hair in those areas turns white."
Koo's eyebrows were visibly bleached white. "I had an examination in May, and the results weren't good," he shared. "It's been on my mind a lot, and I came on my day off to see if it could improve."

The doctor emphasized, "Vitiligo is a chronic condition that can't be cured. Continuous treatment is necessary. It's important to apply and remove sunscreen properly."
Despite anesthesia, Koo appeared to be in pain during the radiofrequency treatment. "It's not exactly an incurable disease, but it's not easy to treat," he admitted. "I'm trying to stay positive."

Later, at a clothing store, Koo revealed his current weight is 112kg and set a goal to reach 95kg by the sports event with Jeon Hyun-moo.
