Kim Min-hee announced her divorce after 12 years
Actress Kim Min-hee has belatedly confessed to her divorce.
On the October 31st episode of KBS2's variety show 'Park Won-sook's Living Together,' culinary researcher Lee Hye-jung and actress Kim Min-hee appeared as guests.
During the show, Kim Min-hee revealed, "I got divorced in 2012. I raised my daughter alone, and she is now 25 years old." She continued, explaining that her daughter felt compelled to protect her divorced mother, recalling an incident when her daughter was in third grade and was so frightened by the sound of an ambulance that she urinated while standing. "That's when I realized something was really wrong," she admitted, "but there was no turning back." Kim Min-hee cited her ex-husband's battle with cancer as the reason she couldn't disclose her divorce. "After the divorce, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. It was so severe that the hospital asked him to leave. I couldn't say anything in case something happened to him. Fortunately, his health improved, and I heard he's even playing golf now," she said. "That's when I thought I no longer had to avoid anyone's gaze or whisper in secret. Lying and making excuses became so exhausting that I developed panic disorder," she revealed.
Another reason for keeping her divorce a secret was the unwanted attention from men. "Initially, I didn't hide it due to my personality, and when I mentioned my divorce in gatherings with acquaintances, men would approach me. Even a friend's husband called me at night to meet up. It was a mess. I must have been associating with the wrong people," she said. "Even young guys would say, 'I can take responsibility for you.' It made me close off my heart, so I couldn't talk much about my divorce. That was harder than the divorce itself," she confessed.
Kim Min-hee first publicly admitted her divorce in March during her appearance on 'Four-Person Dining Table.'
