Shin Min-a, I got a bouquet for my ex-boyfriend's wedding
The first episode of tvN and TVING's original drama 'No Loss Romance,' which aired on the 26th, recorded an average rating of 4.1% and a peak of 5% in the metropolitan area on paid platforms, including cable, IPTV, and satellite. Nationwide, it achieved an average rating of 3.7% and a peak of 4.3%. Among viewers aged 20-49, it recorded an average rating of 1.5% and a peak of 1.7%.
In the first episode, the tumultuous story of 'Son Hae-young' (played by Shin Min-a), who hates losses in life and love, and 'Kim Ji-wook' (played by Kim Young-dae), a convenience store part-timer who doesn't want to harm anyone, began. Hae-young, born with a knack for calculations, is more sensitive to break-even points than others. Having grown up feeling deprived of her foster mother Lee Eun-ok's (played by Yoon Bok-in) love, Hae-young lived with a constant sense of loss and grew up to be 'Son Hae-young (0),' true to her name.
On this day, Hae-young attended the wedding of her ex-boyfriend and colleague Ahn Woo-jae (played by Go Wook), grappling with the realistic dilemma of how much to give as a wedding gift. Watching her ex-boyfriend's wedding, Hae-young discovered that Woo-jae had been two-timing her when they broke up six months ago. Enraged by this revelation, Hae-young boldly wrapped a white tablecloth around her waist like a skirt and stood next to the bride and groom, taking a group photo as 'one groom, two brides.' Her audacious revenge thrilled viewers.
Hae-young confided in her close friends Nam Ja-yeon (played by Han Ji-hyun) and Cha Hee-sung (played by Joo Min-kyung) about the wedding incident. Feeling that her wedding gift was wasted, Hae-young demanded Woo-jae return the money, but he shamelessly refused. Determined to become a 'loss' to Woo-jae, Hae-young delivered a thrilling blow by returning a keepsake made from the wedding bouquet to Woo-jae and his wife.
Meanwhile, Ji-wook, known as Citizen Police No. 28 and the neighborhood angel dog, made a strong impression. Though not desperate for a job, Ji-wook attended a company interview at his professor's request, delivering a satisfying rebuke to interviewers who asked inappropriate questions. He also garnered attention for his inability to ignore those in need, such as by posting wanted posters for the safety of residents.
Ji-wook's only exception to his helpful nature was his prickly attitude towards 'customer' Hae-young, providing comic relief. The two clashed immediately upon meeting at the convenience store, with Hae-young unable to understand why Ji-wook was so antagonistic towards her. Their banter, with Hae-young asking, 'Aren't you going to get a job?' and Ji-wook retorting, 'I will when you get married, customer,' added to the intrigue of their relationship.
At Hae-young's company 'Honeybee Education,' CEO Bok Kyu-hyun (played by Lee Sang-yi), a staunch bachelor, was thrown into confusion by his father Bok Ki-ho's (played by Choi Jin-ho) proposal to either achieve the highest annual sales or get married. Secretary Yeo Ha-jun's (played by Lee Yoo-jin) idea to hold an internal contest further complicated matters. Hearing this, Hae-young resolved to win the contest and achieve a rapid promotion, but was disheartened by rumors that the company would only hire married women to avoid the owner's personal scandals.
At the end of the episode, Hae-young, feeling overwhelmed by reality, drank alone in front of a convenience store. Drunk, she approached Ji-wook, who had always been gruff towards her, and made an outrageous proposal: 'Be my husband.' The unexpected 'marriage proposal' left viewers curious about the ensuing fallout and the unpredictable journey of the two characters.
The second episode of 'No Loss Romance' will air on the 27th at 8:50 PM.
