Kim Young-im confesses to thyroid cancer and hysterectomy

Kim Young-im, a Korean traditional musician, revealed that she suffered from health problems in the past, including facial paralysis and thyroid cancer.

Kim Young-im appeared as a guest on KBS2's entertainment show 'Park Won-sook's Let's Live Together Season 3' (hereinafter referred to as 'Let's Live Together 3'), which aired on the 18th.

On this day, the sisters visited Kim Young-im. Kim Young-im, who unveiled the Hanok second house, said, “My students come to workshops and seminars here.”

There was a fireplace indoors, and a stream flowing in front of the terrace was admirable. When asked about her husband Lee Sang-hae's current status, Kim Young-im said, "He is 8 years older than me, and in the past, he said he was marrying him. “My health is fine,” he said.

Kim Young-im confessed to depression in the past. He said, “It was serious in my late 40s and early 50s. “As the IMF came and my husband’s business slowed down,” she said, “my husband made money through other things besides his main job.” “It’s a golf-related business,” he said.

He continued, “I worked very hard as business declined after the IMF. “It was too much for me because I was going to a concert all week,” he said. “One day, I couldn’t eat. I always maintained 48kg, but in a few months, it went down to 40kg. My skin and bones were so tight that I thought I might be dying. The result was depression. “I was down for almost a year,” he added.

Kim Young-im, who was hit hard by the IMF, suffered facial paralysis. He said, “It felt like one side of my face wasn’t moving. When I look in the mirror in the bathroom, I start to harden. “Some of it was because of stress and some of it was difficult, but half of my face froze and I couldn’t even speak.”

He continued, “I applied hundreds of acupuncture needles, but I only received acupuncture every day for six months. I lived without being able to do any outdoor activities, but after four months, I gradually recovered. “I still feel a little uncomfortable,” he confessed.

Kim Young-im, who also underwent thyroid cancer surgery, said, “I was working hard after recovery, but I was bleeding,” and added, “I ended up having a hysterectomy on one side after the doctor said. “So I had two major surgeries in one year.”

Regarding her first meeting with Lee Sang-hae, Kim Young-im said, "I used to perform at a nighttime establishment, and Lee Sang-im came as an MC. We decided to have coffee one day." “I went there and he asked me to marry him without asking any questions,” he said, surprising me. They eventually met when they were 24 and got married when they were 28.

Kim Young-im also talked about her daughter-in-law Kim Yun-ji (NS Yun-ji). He said, “I didn’t even think about getting married, but they had already met. I didn't know at all because it wasn't obvious. Right before we got married, Yunji said she would come to my house to visit, but she just cried. “I said I would marry my brother,” he explained.

He continued, “It’s best for my daughter to be close to her mother, so I offered to give her a house near her parents’ house, and she said she would live near her in-laws. So, I bought a house 5 minutes away from my house. “I stayed like that for about a year, and then a house came up on the third floor of the house I lived in, so I moved there,” he said.
