Drama 'Goryeo Khitan War' Choi Soo-jong is in crisis and angry due to internal betrayal

In 'Goryeo Khitan War', actor Choi Soo-jong entered the Khitan camp alone.

In the KBS 2TV epic drama 'Goryeo Khitan War' broadcast on the 9th, Kang Gam-chan (played by Choi Soo-jong) was depicted facing a crisis due to a betrayal that occurred within him.

On this day, Gang Gam-chan planned to send false aid to the Khitan army due to its attack. Kang Gam-chan, who visited the top son-in-law (played by Park Yoo-seung), said, "We are doing this to buy time for them to arrive. It is His Majesty's will to protect the West Guards," and mentioned buying time by lying to him. However, to those who were worried that the plan might go awry, Gang Gam-chan reassured them and instructed them to “hold (the Khitan army) as long as possible.”

Gang Gam-chan personally moved to meet Yayul Yongseo (played by Kim Hyuk) in the Khitan camp. He was trying to propose a relative to Yayul Yongseo. However, when Gang Gam-chan saw the Goryeo prisoners in the Khitan camp, he had no choice but to hide his anger. Kang Gam-chan said, “Our saints only waited for His Majesty’s investiture. His Majesty’s investiture was a promise of care.” However, So Bae-ap (played by Kim Jun-bae) was suspicious, telling Yayul Yung-seo not to believe what Kang Gam-chan said.

Yayul Yongseo eventually accepted the pro-Joe proposal. Gang Gam-chan also told Yayul Yung-seo to stop plundering the people. So Bae-ap, who did not stop being suspicious, offered Kang Gam-chan alcohol and food and tied him up to the Khitan camp. Gang Gam-chan explained the reason and lied that King Hyeonjong (played by Kim Dong-jun) had no choice but to fight against the Khitans because of Jo Jeong-seo, and Yayul Yong-seo showed faith, but So Bae-ap did not believe it.

So Bae-ap threatened Kang Gam-chan, saying, “Tomorrow, go to Seogyeong with your soldiers and get Seogyeong’s surrender. Hasn’t the pro-jo decided to surrender?” Kang Gam-chan countered by saying, “There is a procedure for everything.” However, Sobae-Ap strengthened his argument and added, "If Goryeo's surrender is sincere, surrender Seogyeong and open the gates wide. Otherwise, we will advance to Seogyeong unconditionally." However, Seogyeong Buyusu did not follow Hyeonjong and Gang Gamchan's plan and was planning to surrender. He said, "If you fight openly, you will have no choice but to burn to death along with Seo Gyeong-seong. Still, those who want to fight should come forward."

In the end, Gang Gam-chan accompanied the Khitan envoy and headed to Seogyeong. The officials of Seogyeong sided with the Khitan and revealed that the pro-Joseon claim was a lie. As a result, Gang Gam-chan was imprisoned and faced the crisis of being taken to the Khitan. In response to the soldier saying that he had no choice, Gang Gam-chan said, "You made your choice. You participated in the rebellion. If you just pass this moment, you can win. If you buy just one day, you can protect Seogyeong. But people like you will not take that opportunity. “They are eating it up,” he said angrily.

Fortunately, with the help of Goryeo soldiers, Gang Gam-chan escaped the crisis, but he said he would return to the Khitan camp to avoid arousing the Khitan's suspicions. At the same time, Yayul Yongseo and So Bae-ap became suspicious of Gang Gam-chan when they did not hear any news from Seogyeong. In the end, Yayul Yongseo gave the order to advance, and Gang Gamchan appeared in the Khitan camp.
