Singer Noel Gallagher: 'I will continue making music as long as I am physically able'

Noel Galliger, a member of the British band Oasis, talked about what he felt while making music for nearly 30 years.

Singer Noel Gallagher, who visited Korea with 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Special Night in Seoul', appeared as a guest on JTBC's 'Newsroom' broadcast on the 3rd.

Regarding his impressions of visiting Korea for a performance on the 27th and 28th, Noel Galliger said, "I fell in love with Korea from the first time I visited. It's a great place, the people are great, and it's a fun city to perform in. The audiences in Seoul are the best in the world. “I’m part of the audience,” he said. The most memorable moment from this performance was, "I remember a unique placard. A girl was holding it and it said, 'I will steal your passport.' It was probably because she wanted me to stay in Korea forever. I think it was a compliment. “It’s the same,” he said with a smile.

Noel Gallagher, who was in charge of vocals and lead guitar in the rock band Oasis in 1994, also wrote and composed most of the songs himself. Although the team disbanded, Oasis' hit songs are still loved. Noel Galliger said about why the songs are still loved, "It was written 30 years ago, so there are people who weren't born yet at the time. There are people who are now parents but listened to it 30 years ago. It's a magical story." In addition, regarding the phenomenon being loved by the younger generation, he emphasized, "There is still a fairly young audience around the world, so I try not to pay too much attention to why this happened and what it is."

In particular, Noel Gallagher said about critics' comments, "I don't really care. For example, I released an album and I know it's great. I don't need other people to tell me it's great, because I know it's great." He continued, "I don't want to be stuck somewhere, but the easiest way for me is to do 6-7 new songs and do 12 Oasis songs. That's what everyone wants. But I'm not that kind of person. That's easy. Now “I like to try new things at the stage I am in,” he said, explaining why he always takes on new challenges.

When asked about the most memorable moment in his nearly 30 years as a singer, Noel Galliger chose "the night I wrote 'Supersonic'." Noel Galliger added, "I happened to write that song in an hour in the back of the studio. That song became Oasis' first single. It just fell out of the sky that night. It remains my favorite Oasis song to this day." . In addition, "I just want to be remembered, and I don't care what people think of me. I can't do that on my own, right? What will it matter if I die? It doesn't really matter. Anyway, my songs will last a lifetime. So my songs “You will live without me,” he said.

Noel Gallagher said, "I am curious and excited about where my music will go in the future. I hope to be able to make music until the day I die. (Music) I will continue to do it as long as I am interested in it and as long as I am physically able to do it. But Even if someone says to me, ‘Tomorrow is the end. I can’t compose from now on,’ I will accept it. I think I’ve written enough good songs. I think I’ll feel comfortable.” Lastly, Noel Gallagher said, "The hotel room is full of Christmas presents.
