K-Pop Star Heo Ga-yoon Opens Up About Her Late Brother on 'You Quiz on the Block'
K-pop singer Heo Ga-yoon shared her heartfelt memories of her late brother, who passed away at the age of 33.

On October 21, tvN's variety show 'You Quiz on the Block' released a preview featuring Heo Ga-yoon.

In the teaser, Heo Ga-yoon recalled, "One day, my brother suddenly collapsed. We discovered he had a heart condition and decided on surgery, but just three days before the operation, my parents called to say he had suddenly passed away."

Her brother had only been living independently for about a month. Heo Ga-yoon shared, "All of his belongings were new. Even the electronics. There were unopened packages of ramen and canned tuna. I wonder if he knew this would happen. He probably didn't."

She continued, "If there's another world, I hope he can do everything he wants there," expressing her unspoken wishes for her brother.

Heo Ga-yoon lost her brother in December 2020. She has spoken about him in lectures, saying, "He worked at a medical company and was always busy. He often missed family dinners or left right after eating. Even when I visited home, he was usually not there."

She added, "He often said he wanted to save enough money to live independently, travel for a long time, and do what he wanted. Unfortunately, just after achieving his first goal of independence, this happened."

Following her brother's passing, Heo Ga-yoon resolved, "Even if I die tomorrow, I want to live without regrets. I want to live for happiness, not success or fame. I won't postpone anything." In Bali, she shared, "For the first time, I went to a café alone, drank coffee, and ate by myself. It was comforting and happy to not worry about others and just enjoy the little things."

Heo Ga-yoon debuted in 2009 with the group 4Minute and has pursued an acting career since the group's disbandment in 2016. Recently, she published an essay titled 'I Became Myself in the Most Unfamiliar Sea,' which has garnered significant attention.

Meanwhile, Heo Ga-yoon's appearance on 'You Quiz on the Block' is set to air on October 25 at 8:45 PM.
