Bae Yong-jun wins the 'Well Bang Winners Cup' round of 16

Lee Soo-min (30), a senior and junior who was the KPGA Rookie of the Year, and Bae Yong-jun (23) faced off. The joy of victory was experienced by junior Bae Yong-jun.

In the 5th round of the JTBC GOLF Wellbang Winners Cup (total prize money of 150 million won), which aired at 10:30 pm on the 31st (Tuesday), Lee Soo-min and Bae Yong-jun showed off a tense match.

Su-min Lee completed his military service after winning the Korean Tour Rookie of the Year in 2015 and winning the prize money in 2019. Bae Yong-jun is a rookie who won the Rookie of the Year award with one win in his rookie year in 2022.

On this day, the two competed in a 1-on-1 match play with a prize of 50 million won. Bae Yong-jun and Lee Soo-min fought back and forth throughout the first half. Su-min Lee, who had won the first hole, continued to show poor performance in the second and third holes. Then again, starting from the 5th hole, he seemed to completely dominate his junior Bae Yong-jun.

Su-min Lee, who was ahead by 1 hole until the 9th hole, also took the win at the start of the second half. However, Bae Yong-jun turned the game around by winning the 11th hole. Afterwards, Su-min Lee lost 6 holes in a row, and eventually lost by 4 holes with 2 holes remaining. Bae Yong-jun, who came from behind to win in the second half, earned a ticket to the quarterfinals.

Along with the broadcast, the Well Bang Winners Cup also holds a viewer event to determine who will win on which hole and by what stroke margin. Viewers can participate in an interesting way, with the winner announced on the 1st and the Hyper Q driver awarded.
