Intrigue Deepens in 'Shin & Law Office' as Yu Yeon-seok's Character Faces Family Scandal
In the series, Shin Ki-jung (played by Choi Won-young) becomes a scarlet letter for his son, Shin Yi-rang (played by Yu Yeon-seok). This revelation explains why Shin Yi-rang has repeatedly failed to secure a position at law firms. The backstory of Shin Ki-jung is gradually being unveiled.
Shin Ki-jung was once a promising prosecutor but was disgraced as corrupt and died under mysterious circumstances. In young Shin Yi-rang's memory, his father was a "righteous man who caught bad guys," and this belief led him to pursue a career in law. His mother, Park Kyung-hwa (played by Kim Mi-kyung), once sought the help of a shaman, the previous tenant of the office her son now uses, in a desperate attempt to clear her husband's name, a fact unknown to Shin Yi-rang.
Viewers are particularly uneasy about Yang Byung-il's calculated kindness. He offered Shin Yi-rang a job at Taebaek, saying, "How about working at Taebaek now?" and promised to help him with any difficult tasks. Yet, he watched a court case between Shin Yi-rang and his son, Yang Do-kyung (played by Kim Kyung-nam), with a mysterious smile.
The question remains whether Yang Byung-il was truly an ally trying to clear Shin Ki-jung's name. As his enigmatic return to the butcher shop after 20 years adds to the mystery, the impact of this past shadow on the new partnership between Shin Yi-rang and Han Na-hyun (played by Esom) is eagerly anticipated.
'Shin & Law Office' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
