La Poem “New song ‘The Fire’, a song that motivates you just by listening to it”
La Poem (Park Ki-hoon, Yoo Chae-hoon, Jeong Min-seong, Choi Seong-hoon) will release their second mini-album 'The Alchemist' through various music sites today (8th) at 6 PM. All members participate in the overall production of the album, presenting La Poem's 'NEW ERA', which is condensed with deeper emotions and well-made music.
The new album 'The Alchemist' contains a message of hope, promising a new leap forward after a stormy war, and includes the title song 'The Fire', 'Find The Light', and 'Anchor ( It contains a total of 5 tracks, including 'Anchor', 'We'll stay', and 'Blast'.
Through this album, La Poem plans to showcase its potential as an 'alchemist of music' with a more solid musical narrative and magnificent harmony, encompassing genres such as pop, rock, and electronica as well as traditional crossover.
The following is a Q&A with La Poem, who is releasing her second mini album 'The Alchemist'.
Q. This is your comeback 6 months after your previous work ‘THE WAR’. How do you feel about releasing your new album ‘The Alchemist’?
Yoo Chae-hoon: I’m so happy to be greeting you with a new album after 6 months. We hope you look forward to our upgraded appearance.
Choi Seong-hoon: Since this is already our second mini album, I feel like ‘Our La Poem has lived really diligently with La View (official fan club name).’ I feel especially nervous about this album because it consists of original songs.
Jeong Min-seong: I am grateful and it is a precious time. It's a new feeling to come back with the second mini album after a long time since the first mini album.
Park Ki-hoon: We released a mini-album right after our debut, and I am filled with gratitude and excitement to be able to greet you again with a mini-album in the third year.
Q. As the album title suggests, you have transformed into an ‘alchemist of music’. You have attempted various genres. What tracks did you fill it with?
Chaehoon Yoo: The name of this album is ‘Alchemist’. We wanted to make any genre unique to La Poem by creating alchemy like mysterious magic. I want to magically captivate everyone with a variety of sounds.
Minseong Jeong: Through this album, I have grown a lot by challenging different genres. We put a lot of thought and effort into song selection and recording. If you listen to tracks 1 through 5, I think they will all have different charms.
Q. Please introduce the title song ‘The Fire’. How did you feel when you first heard it?
Seonghoon Choi: I would like to say that it is a song that gives you energy that can motivate you just by listening to it. You'll fall in love with its addictive melody and energy every time you listen to it.
Park Ki-hoon: I really liked it because the melody stayed in my ear and it was a majestic and powerful song.
Q. The members’ high level of participation is noticeable. What did each of you participate in and was there anything you particularly focused on?
Yoo Chae-hoon: A lot of different members participated in this album. I participated in composing the last 5th track, ‘Blast’, and was in charge of the album jacket photo. First of all, ahead of the album jacket photo shoot, I thought a lot about 'how should I express the members' charms and whether fans will like them?' Then, I wanted to bring out the chic and sophisticated charm of the members in my favorite black and white photos. We have included it in the form of a photo book in this album, so please look forward to it. And I’m curious how fans will listen to ‘Blast’. Not only did I directly participate in composing the song, but the members also tried new genres. I would be very proud if people thought, ‘La Poem can handle these genres,’ or ‘La Poem’s spectrum has broadened once again.’
Seonghoon Choi: I participated in writing the lyrics for track 4, ‘We’ll stay’. Although I am not good at writing professionally, I wanted to express through lyrics the feelings I felt and the feelings I felt on stage with the members. I put a lot of thought into expressing stories that come from experience honestly and more easily than just someone else's story.
Minseong Jeong: Since we know our voices best, our goal was to participate in the mixing process and embody the best voices. I learned a lot by exchanging opinions directly with the mixing engineer.
Park Ki-hoon: When recording, I tried to come up with various ideas in terms of part distribution and vocals. For the title song 'The Fire', we came up with an idea for pronunciation of the main part and paid attention to creating a more complete song.
Q. What are the charms and listening points of your new album ‘The Alchemist’?
Seong-Hoon Choi: I think that each and every song in this album has charm and addictive points just as much as the title song. We made various changes to the composition of the song so that after listening to one song, you will definitely want to listen to the next song. When listening to the album, we recommend that you listen to the first song in order and then listen to the title one more time at the end. Then you'll fall in love with the stories and addictive melodies all day long.
Jeong Min-seong: It’s diverse, and it’s made up of songs with different meanings and different genres. I hope you think of it as a ‘buffet-like album’ and listen to it a lot.
Q. To commemorate the release of the new album, the La Poem tour concert 'The Alchemist' will be held starting in Seoul on the 25th and 26th. What kind of performances are you preparing?
Yoo Chae-hoon: Since the songs in the new album are diverse, I think we will be able to see more diverse charms than ever before at this concert. We are preparing songs that fans will want to hear and stages where they can see a fresh side of themselves.
Park Ki-hoon: We are trying to show the charm of the album songs as best as possible. In addition to the album songs, we are working hard to prepare to show a variety of songs and a variety of appearances. You can look forward to it.
Q. Please say something to the fans who have been waiting for your new album more than anyone else.
Chaehoon Yoo: I thought a lot about my fans while preparing the album. I am very excited and nervous as I have put in a lot of effort this time. The affection for this album is special, perhaps because all members participated in various fields. I hope you get a lot of love from your fans.
Seong-Hoon Choi: Our efforts over the past three years have once again resulted in a new album. Even though I was sweating and falling down from exhaustion during that period, I think La Poem was able to release an album that grew even more because you were there. I said thank you for always being by my side, and we will be by your side from now on. If you come to us when you are having a hard time, we will protect you.
