Yoo Ah-in's Agency Denies Comeback Rumors Amid Legal Troubles
On the 17th, a representative from Yoo Ah-in's agency, UAA, addressed reports that the actor would be making a comeback in director Jang Jae-hyun's upcoming film 'Vampire,' slated for filming in the latter half of next year. The representative stated, "No decision has been made regarding his appearance." Director Jang Jae-hyun also commented through various media outlets, saying, "Nothing has been finalized yet."
Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that Yoo Ah-in would return to acting in Jang Jae-hyun's film 'Vampire.' The film is said to be inspired by Bram Stoker's classic novel 'Dracula' and revolves around the theme of vampires. Director Jang is known for his work on occult films such as 'The Priests,' 'Svaha: The Sixth Finger,' and 'Exhuma.'
Yoo Ah-in has faced legal issues, including allegations of administering medical propofol under the guise of cosmetic procedures 181 times between September 2020 and March 2022. He was also accused of illegally obtaining over 1,100 sleeping pills under another person's name from May 2021 to August 2023. Additionally, he faced charges of smoking marijuana in the U.S. with Choi Mo and others in January last year and encouraging others to smoke.
In July, Yoo Ah-in was sentenced by the Supreme Court to one year in prison, suspended for two years, along with a fine of 2 million KRW.
