'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' is a fantasy action film where the world of a novel becomes reality on the day the novel, which had been serialized for over a decade, concludes. The story follows 'Kim Dokja,' the sole reader of the novel, as he teams up with the protagonist 'Yoo Joonghyuk' and other allies to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. The film showcases an expansive universe built on extraordinary imagination.
From the outset, 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' draws audiences into its thrilling and immersive world where 'the world of the novel becomes reality.' Kim Dokja (played by Ahn Hyo-seop), an ordinary office worker and the only person to have read the novel 'Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World' to its end, finds himself on a subway ride home when the novel's serialization ends, and the world of the novel unfolds before his eyes.
◆ Scenario
The first key to understanding 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' is the 'scenario.' In this world where the novel becomes reality, everyone is assigned a 'scenario' that they must clear to survive. Missions like 'Kill more than one living being' or 'Cross the broken bridge' vary in difficulty, conditions, and rewards. Only the novel's protagonist, 'Yoo Joonghyuk,' survives by clearing all scenarios. Disappointed by the ending where 'Yoo Joonghyuk' survives alone, 'Dokja' decides to write his own ending where everyone survives together. Watching how many scenarios appear in the film, how 'Dokja' and his allies clear each one, and how they grow will be a great joy in exploring this overwhelming and unique universe.
◆ Dokkaebi
The second key is the dokkaebi 'Bi-hyung,' who suddenly appears before the confused passengers to assign scenarios. Despite his cute and round appearance, the scenarios he guides are terrifying. 'Dokja,' who knows the novel's plot, uses his knowledge to strategically utilize 'Bi-hyung,' who possesses various abilities. He gathers necessary information and exchanges weapons or items needed to fulfill scenarios from the dokkaebi's pouch. 'Bi-hyung's' captivating presence, delightful humor, and surprising traits are noteworthy.
◆ Coins
The third element is 'coins,' essential currency for survival in the novel's world. These 'coins' are awarded differently as rewards for scenarios. Characters can use 'coins' to enhance their stats like health, strength, and agility or purchase various items like weapons and equipment. As a currency directly linked to survival, fierce conflicts arise over acquiring and protecting 'coins,' playing a crucial role in 'Dokja's' moments of crisis. The anticipation of what grand missions and rewards await 'Dokja' and his allies as they clear scenarios, and how 'Dokja' evolves, piques curiosity.
◆ Constellations and Sponsors
Lastly, there are the 'constellations,' entities observing all scenarios from beyond Earth. Constellations become 'sponsors' for specific individuals, granting them equipment, currency, and special skills. When facing difficulties in clearing scenarios, they can receive support through their 'sponsor.' Each character chooses a different 'sponsor,' enabling them to clear increasingly challenging scenarios with diverse weapons and abilities.
'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint,' which reveals a richly enjoyable universe, will be available in theaters nationwide on July 23.
