Bong Joon-ho's 'Mickey17' Surpasses 1.3 Million Viewers in Just Four Days

Bong Joon-ho's latest film, 'Mickey17', has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 1.3 million viewers within just four days of its release.

According to the Integrated Computer Network for Movie Tickets, 'Mickey17' attracted an additional 316,115 viewers on March 3rd alone, bringing its total audience count to 1,303,007.

Since its release on February 28th, 'Mickey17' has maintained its stronghold at the top of the box office throughout the March 1st holiday weekend. The film's rapid achievement of 1 million viewers in just four days is comparable to the success of 2024's top foreign film 'Inside Out 2', the long-running hit 'Top Gun: Maverick' which drew over 8 million viewers, and the summer 2023 blockbuster 'Smuggling'. Notably, 'Mickey17' reached this milestone faster than Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', showcasing Bong Joon-ho's ability to captivate domestic audiences with his unique vision and message.

'Mickey17' tells the unpredictable story of Mickey, an expendable worker who is reprinted after each death. As Mickey faces his 17th death crisis, a new Mickey18 is printed, leading to unforeseen events. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

In second place at the box office is 'Captain America: Brave New World', with a daily audience of 32,562 and a cumulative total of 1,584,177 viewers.

'Exorcism Chronicles' holds the third spot, drawing 28,115 viewers in a day, with a total of 301,405.

Fourth place goes to 'It's Okay, It's Okay, It's Okay!', followed by 'Cheer Up, Korea' in fifth.

As of 8:30 AM on the 4th, 'Mickey17' leads in advance ticket sales with a 45.3% share. 'Flavor 'Dash' in Cinema' follows with 14.6%, and 'Conclave' is in third with 5.7%.
