Song Kang made a special appearance in ‘Escape’
'Escape' is a film depicting a life-threatening chase between North Korean soldier Gyu-nam (played by Lee Je-hoon), who has begun an escape for tomorrow, and Hyeon-sang, a National Security Agency officer who chases after Gyu-nam (played by Koo Kyo-hwan) to protect today. Song Kang, Lee Som, Lee Ho-jung, and Shin Hyun-ji made special appearances.
Song Kang has shown a diverse range of acting across a variety of genres such as romance, action, and creature, including the dramas 'My Demon' and 'I Know But', and the Netflix series 'Love Alarm' and 'Sweet Home'. Song Kang, who is currently serving in the military, makes a surprise appearance as Seon Woo-min, a character who makes people curious about the hidden past of Hyeong-hyeon (Koo Kyo-hwan). Regarding Seon Woo-min, director Lee Jong-pil said, “We needed a character to show Hyeon-sang’s past that could give us an idea of his character’s inner self, conflicts, and worries,” and asked what kind of relationship Sun Woo-min had with Hyeon-sang’s past before becoming an officer of the National Security Agency. It adds to the curiosity about what kind of person he is. Koo Kyo-hwan said, "Actor Song Kang's face contains many narratives and stories. So, I think he is the best casting as a character who must tell us about his relationship with the phenomenon."
Lee Som, who has been well-received by the public for playing any character in 'Gil Bok-soon', 'A Little Princess', and 'Because This is My First Life', is the story of Gyu-nam (Lee Je-hoon) and Dong-hyuk (Hong Sa-bin)'s difficult escape journey. He makes a surprise appearance as the leader of the wandering people he encounters. Lee Som's special appearance was made possible through her relationship with director Lee Jong-pil, who has continued since the 'Samjin Group English TOEIC Class'. Director Lee Jong-pil said, "I thought the core concept of the wandering leader character was loyalty. I thought it would be good for actor Lee Som to play this character. Actor Lee Som, whom I met by chance, heard about the project and said that he would be the only one who could do it, showing loyalty, so I was very impressed. “Thank you,” he said. In addition, Lee Som helped enrich the play by recruiting actors Lee Ho-jeong and Shin Hyeon-ji, with whom he boasts a special friendship, as members of the Wanderers. Lee Je-hoon, who worked with the Wandering Min members as Gyu-nam, said, “The Wandering Min members are like vital characters that revive the atmosphere of the movie.”
'Escape' will be released in theaters on July 3rd.
