Ermanno Olmi's 'The Legend of the Holy Drinker' opens in Korea for the first time in 35 years
Director Ermanno Olmi, who won the Golden Lion at the 45th Venice International Film Festival in 1988, released the main trailer for his masterpiece, 'The Legend of the Holy Drinker'.
The movie 'The Legend of the Holy Drunkard', based on the original story of world bestselling author Joseph Lott, depicts the fairytale-like events of Andreas, a homeless drunkard living in the Seine River in France.
The main trailer was produced with the focus on the actors and staff who participated in the film, as well as the news of winning awards at international film festivals, rather than the dramatic content of the work, using the song “Sweet No. 2 for Small Orchestra” by Igor Stravinsky, the greatest classical composer of the 20th century. Andreas (Rutger Hauer), a homeless man who spends his days under an alcohol-soaked bridge under the Seine River in Paris, accepts 200 francs from a strange gentleman with a devout atmosphere. The incident takes place as he readily swears at the gentleman's words that he can pay off his debt by offering it to the priest.
Rutger Hauer, a talented actor active in Hollywood, and Dante Spinotti, who directed outstanding images in 'LA Confidential', 'Hit', and 'The Last of the Mohicans', filmed and played the representative songs of Igor Stravinsky, the best classical composer of the 20th century, as background music for the film. I write it and add the dignity of a masterpiece.
The movie 'The Legend of the Holy Drinker' will be released in Korea on August 30th.
