NCT's Jaehyun Purchases Luxury Penthouse in Seoul's Prestigious Cheongdam-dong for $49 Million

NCT's Jaehyun has made headlines with his recent acquisition of a luxurious penthouse in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The property, a 229㎡ duplex penthouse in the prestigious Samho Villa, was purchased for a staggering 49 billion KRW (approximately $49 million USD) in November 2024. This transaction marks a significant increase from the previous sale price of 19.5 billion KRW, making it the highest recorded sale for this property type.

According to recent court registry documents, Jaehyun completed the purchase on November 29, 2024, and finalized the ownership transfer on December 23, 2024, paying the full amount in cash without any mortgage. Prior to this purchase, Jaehyun owned an apartment in Eungbong-dong, Seongdong-gu, which he sold shortly after acquiring the Cheongdam-dong property.

The Samho Villa penthouse features five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a terrace, with a design that allows for separate living spaces on each floor. This particular 229㎡ penthouse type has only seen three transactions since 1997, with the last sale occurring in December 2016 for 19.5 billion KRW. The price has surged by 29.5 billion KRW over approximately nine years.

Samho Villa is renowned as one of the iconic luxury villa complexes in Cheongdam-dong, a traditional affluent residential area developed in the 1980s and 1990s. Unlike large apartment complexes, it offers a low-rise, low-density design that emphasizes privacy and independence. It forms part of Gangnam's elite residential belt, alongside Apgujeong-dong and Samseong-dong, and is surrounded by luxury boutiques, galleries, and high-end restaurants.
