IU Discusses Concerns Over Labelmate WOODZ's Appearance on 'IU's Palette'
On the 10th, the YouTube channel '이지금' released an episode titled '[IU's Palette] WOODZ, Are You Ready for the High Notes? (With WOODZ) Ep.34'. The guest for this episode was WOODZ, who recently made a comeback with his full album 'Achive. 1'.
IU opened the conversation by saying, "I heard you had certain standards before appearing on this program." WOODZ responded, "After joining the company at the end of 2022, fans often suggested I appear on 'Palette'. However, I felt I shouldn't appear until I had proven myself."
He added, "I wanted to wait until I had more to share on the program. While I was in the military, 'Drowning' did well, so I thought about asking to appear around the time my full album was released."
When IU asked, "Do you think you've proven yourself now?", WOODZ replied, "I wanted to appear when people thought it would be fun, rather than just because I'm a labelmate." IU agreed, saying she waited until he was ready to avoid any misunderstandings about favoritism. She added, "I think he's become the perfect guest," creating a warm atmosphere.
Meanwhile, WOODZ, a 12-year veteran in the industry, gained fame after participating in Mnet's 'Produce X 101' in 2019, where he finished in 5th place and debuted with the group X1. He later gained recognition with the reverse-charting success of 'Drowning', the title track of his mini-album 'OO-LI'.
